On Monday 7 May, Mumsy (Nomcebo Gumede) told her outraged father Pastor Mdletshe (Glen Gabela) that Thobile (Nokuthula Mabika) was making “an issue out of a tissue” after Mumsy created a scandal at the shisanyama by rubbing her affair with Mastermind (Ntokozo Dlamini) in Thobile’s face on Friday 4 May, even offering to teach Thobile how to please her man. But her sly little smirk after Daddy stormed off told the true story. And later, as she lay on her bed holding a little pink stick, it was clear why: Mumsy is pregnant. “Yes, she is knocked up!” confirms Nomcebo. “She seems to be very happy about being a mommy”. Now Mumsy has chosen the most public place possible to let the cat out of the bag – at her baptism in front of her father’s entire congregation, including Thobile, on Wednesday 23 May!

BAPTISED IN LIES

“The fact that she wants to drop this bomb during the ceremony makes it believable that she is a changed woman,” explains Nomcebo. “But remember: this is Mumsy we are talking about. She’s always playing at something. She’ll do and say anything to get what she wants. Mumsy takes what she wants and always finds a way to worm her way under everyone’s skin.” Getting under both Thobile and Mastermind’s skin at the same time is a bonus. “To put it in simple words, she’s secretly hoping that this will eat Thobile up. Mumsy is all about chaining down Mastermind and tormenting Thobile,” laughs Nomcebo, who was in a little bit of a pickle herself with the baptism. “It was so funny because I’m afraid of water and everyone was laughing at me,” she admits. “It took us so long to shoot this scene and I must say, it was probably my favourite part.”

MASTERING MASTERMIND

At first Mumsy seems to get her wish when Thobile decides to teach Mastermind a lesson after the baptism on Thursday 24 May. But Mumsy is alarmed to see Mastermind dancing to Thobile’s tune, trying to win her back on Friday 25 May and Monday 28 May. Seeing her dream man slipping through her fingers, Mumsy decides to fight dirty on Tuesday 29 May. “She does what any psycho does! She threatens to terminate, and as for Mastermind’s attitude to her announcement, she’s not bothered,” reveals Nomcebo. While her ploy has the desired results, she might not like what happens next, as Mastermind has certain conditions for supporting her during her pregnancy on Wednesday 30 May, and Thobile is quick to squelch Mumsy’s attempts to rebel on Thursday 31 May. And this love-hate triangle is in for another shock when Pastor Mdletshe calls on the Maphumulos on Tuesday 5 June…

SHE SAYS Catching a man with a baby trap is “wrong and cruel, but women are doing this all the time and it’s so evil,” says Nomcebo.

Mumsy has something wicked planned for her baptism.
