Sins of the partner
Café Rovuwa turns into a battlefield when Lehasa makes changes to the restaurant without his partner Cindy’s consent.

Business entrepreneur Lehasa (Cedric Fourie) has some mopping up to do after an awful online review in mid-May this year damaged the reputation of his restaurant Café Rovuwa. This time the perfectionist in Lehasa is adamant at proving that everything he is involved in is a success, explains Cedric, and his character takes it upon himself to get his restaurant out of trouble by getting rid of the old staff and hiring a world-renowned chef to attract customers. But this turns into a recipe for disaster when he doesn’t run his plan by his business partner Cindy (Phophi Mudau) first…
COMING TO BLOWS
When Lehasa eventually tells Cindy about his new idea to revamp the restaurant on Friday 25 May, she instantly shoots him down. “She believes that he should’ve talked to her about it first,” says Cedric, adding that the business partners end in a screaming match. Cindy is a majority owner and believes that Lehasa had a duty to inform her about his ideas and also to include her in the decisions concerning Rovuwa, but he insist on defying her. “Lehasa has already made up his mind, thinking that his changes are going to bring in the big bucks,” explains Cedric. Cindy feels betrayed and tells him not to go ahead with his plans, but Lehasa disregards her orders and does it anyway.
THE GLOVES ARE OFF!
Lehasa calls a meeting on Monday 28 May to explain his business changes in response to the scathing online review and he fires half of the staff at Rovuwa. “He flat- out lies and tells them that this decision was from himself and Cindy and that they ‘had’ to let them go. Cindy just stands there not saying a word,” grins Cedric. Only the waiters remain and although they are against Lehasa’s decision, they don’t peep a word, even when he announces the new chef [hint hint: it’s a Turfloop local who studied at the culinary academy] taking over at the restaurant on Tuesday 29 May. This leaves a sour taste in their mouths but they stay quiet nonetheless. “Cindy is cold towards Lehasa and the new chef. She didn’t agree to the dismissal of the other staff and she resorts to controlling the new addition,” explains Cedric.
Business starts going back to normal at Café Rovuwa, but Lehasa isn’t done with his shady tricks just yet. He meets with culinary students Katlego and Candice (Patrick Seleka and Liza van Deventer) on Friday 1 June to join forces to buy Capsy’s Restaurant. “He manipulates Kat and Candice like a pro and has them believing they’ll own the place once they buy it,” says Cedric. But Lehasa is just using them to “manage” the restaurant while he lines his pockets from the profits. But this isn’t the first time Lehasa has deceived someone, he stole a nut distribution company from Turfloop businesswoman Sonti (Pearl Maimela) in early 2017 and kicked her to the curb. “Lehasa thinks that he’s doing everything right but it won’t be long until someone drags him off his high horse,” hints Cedric.
Cindy isn’t pleased with the changes that Lehasa has done behind her back.
Candice and Kat are clueless to Lehasa’s tricks.
