Entitled rich-kid Andile (Lunga Mofokeng) goes from uptight closet- case gay to having sex with anyone who shows an interest in him on Thursday 11 October. “He believes that it’s the only way to distract him from thinking about his ex-boyfriend Njabulo (Siyabonga Sepotokele) who has moved on,” says Lunga with raised eyebrows. Andile drowns his sorrows at the bar and parties into the night with the wrong people. “He even hangs out in Refilwe township, something he did only when he was secretly dating his deceased ex Happy (TK Sebothoma) earlier this year,” adds the actor. While Andile’s behaviour change is sexually liberating for him, it’s tainting his controlling mom Lindiwe’s (Sindi Dlathu) business reputation, which is why she decides to intervene.

News travels fast and Andile’s family are annoyed with his actions by Friday 12 October. “He picks up guys at clubs and they stay overnight at his house, which irks his parents,” says Lunga. The family reserve their opinions for the time being, especially after Andile tried to commit suicide in April when homophobic Lindiwe tried to force him to marry his then- girlfriend Faith (Anele Zondo) to save her business with a cash investment from Faith’s rich parents. “His family don’t want to drive him further away, so his sisters Nomonde and Mbali (Linda Mtoba and Zenokuhle Maseko) urge Andile to use protection and fight for Njabulo rather than hide his feelings.” But it’s difficult for Andile to accept that Njabulo could be happy with someone else, explains Lunga. “And he keeps pushing Andile away. So why should he fight for it?”

Lindiwe has egg on her face on Wednesday 17 October when she learns that her son is hot gossip among the miners and she tears into Andile. “She threatens to kick him out and strip him of his allowance,” says Lunga. For the first time in his life, the youngster fights back at his mom. “Hanging out in Refilwe, with confident and open gays, gives Andile a voice. He understands himself more than ever and that he loves Njabulo more than he thought.” It’s all good and well for Andile to stand up to his mom now, while his sexcapades are just talk among her employees. But what will her investors say later in October when Andile’s sex-tape goes viral? Something tells us that everything we’ve seen of Lindiwe’s temper so far is scratching the surface.

Lindiwe is ready to take her wild son down a notch. Andile accepted that he was gay on his wedding day and it’s been downhill since then.
