SAN DIEGO: Sci-fi film District 9 is ex­pected to lure huge crowds to US the­atres fol­low­ing its de­but yes­ter­day af­ter draw­ing throngs of fan­boys to pre­views at last month’s ComicCon pop cul­ture con­ven­tion. The movie, about aliens on Earth who pos­sess weapons that hu­mans want to con­trol, was co-writ­ten and di­rected by South African Neill Blomkamp and pro­duced by Os­car-winning Lord of the Rings di­rec­tor Peter Jack­son WAR­SAW : A group of Pol­ish na­tion­al­ists has con­demned a planned week­end con­cert by Madonna here, brand­ing her a “cryp­toSatanist” who wants to in­sult the Chris­tian re­li­gion. LOS AN­GE­LES: Michael Dou­glas has said he and his fam­ily were “dev­as­tated” by the ar­rest of his son Cameron Dou­glas on charges of sell­ing the il­le­gal drug metham­phetamine. It was the first time Dou­glas and for­mer wife, Dian­dra Dou­glas, pub­licly ad­dressed their son’s July 28 ar­rest. LOS AN­GE­LES: Al­bum sales, a movie deal and other projects could boost Michael Jack­son’s es­tate by $200 mil­lion be­fore the end of this year, the Los An­ge­les Times re­ported on Thurs­day.
