Entries soar for ad awards
A RECORD number of 298 entries has been received this year for the Pendoring Advertising Awards for outstanding Afrikaans advertising. This is 76 more than last year.
This year’s total number of entries – 356 – is also neck and neck with 2007’s record of 374 entries.
This comes in spite of the economic downturn and can be attributed to the strong focus of a dedicated campaign to encourage advertising agencies to enter, as well as the Creative Circle’s official endorsement, says co-ordinator Franette Klerck.
Student entries were slightly fewer than last year, but a tailor-made campaign will be devised to elicit more student entries, he says.
“As students are the advertising creatives of tomorrow, it is of paramount importance to encourage them to be standard-bearers for Afrikaans advertising as well.”
