Private treaty auction preview days now more popular than traditional show days – agent

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - AUCTIONS -

P R I VAT E t r e a t y a u c t i o n preview days attract more buyers than traditional show days, according to Martin Freedman of Re/Max Living.

Only one person attended a s h ow d ay d u r i n g t h e s i x months a Camps Bay property was on the market under a t r a d i t i o n a l s a l e s mandat e, F r e e d m a n s a i d . ( Re / M a x Living is representing the property in conjunction with Yellow Hammer.)

On the two preview days leading up to the auction, 17 potential bidders viewed the property, Freedman said.

“This sales platfor m not only allows me to offer a new service to my clients, but also attracts a greater pool of qualified buyers who are ready to make investments without any suspensive conditions.

“This too is a great advantage to all of my sellers.”

A deceased estate in Plumstead also achieved great suc- cess, with 15 registered bidders at the auction, and a sale price higher than the reserve was obtained, he said.

An exclusive Constantia residence, on the market for a lengthy period of time, had a turn-out of more than 17 potential buyers at the preview day, held in conjunction with Iris Kratschmar of Realty Professionals.

Kelly Har r i s, operati ons manager for Yellow Hammer, said the success of preview days and subsequent auctions could be attributed to the close working relationship between estate agents and Yellow Hammer.

“It is vital that the agents are part of the process – all of these and many other success stories are directly credited to the ground work done by the area specialists.

“Agents are specialists in their specific farming areas and both sellers and buyers have the reassurance they have experienced property professionals available to assist them in making informed property investment decisions.”

Since its start earlier this y e a r, Ye l l o w H a mme r h a d already brought more than 60 properties to auction and continued to grow its portfolio, Harris said.
