Whispering cop sues over job
ASHFORD: A for mer police sergeant with a rare voice disorder is suing her old force claiming she was passed over for a job as a dog handler because she can only whisper.
Catherine Gilbert, 35, said she was not given the opportunity to carry out training for the role.
She also told the tribunal in Ashford that Kent Police failed to make “reasonable adjustments” for her condition, leaving her unable to communicate with colleagues or use the phone without difficulty.
Gilbert quit her job in 2005 and is claiming tens of thousands of pounds for loss of earnings. – Daily Mail
