CERIS Rhiannon Field, practising attorney, notary and conveyancer, graduated from UCT in 1984 and was admitted to the High Court in 1987. She commenced practice on her own in 1991. Today, she specialises in wills , deceased estates and trusts, as well as conveyancing. She is well versed in Shariah law and has become a specialist in the preparation and drafting of wills in terms of this law.
Ceris is held in high esteem not only by her clients, but also by her colleagues, who have elected her chairperson of the Cape Town Law Society Wills, Estates and Trusts Committee. She is also a member of t he National Law Society of South Africa Deceased Estates, Trusts and Planning Committee.
I n between running a busy practice, Ceris lectures part time on the subject of administration of deceased estates at the UCT Post Graduate School for Legal Practice, to candidate attorneys for the Law Society and to other attorneys and support staff throughout South Africa for Legal Education and Development of the Law Society of South Africa.
The part-time lecturing consumes a lot of time and involves a great deal of travelling, with the result that much work has to be completed after normal office hours. Thanks to her own dedication and her highly competent staff, Ceris is able to fulfil her passion of practising law, running a business and imparting knowledge and skills.
