Spe­cial­is­ing in wills, de­ceased es­tates, trusts and con­veyanc­ing

CERIS Rhi­an­non Field, prac­tis­ing at­tor­ney, no­tary and con­veyancer, grad­u­ated from UCT in 1984 and was ad­mit­ted to the High Court in 1987. She com­menced prac­tice on her own in 1991. To­day, she spe­cialises in wills , de­ceased es­tates and trusts, as well as con­veyanc­ing. She is well versed in Shariah law and has be­come a spe­cial­ist in the prepa­ra­tion and draft­ing of wills in terms of this law.

Ceris is held in high es­teem not only by her clients, but also by her col­leagues, who have elected her chair­per­son of the Cape Town Law So­ci­ety Wills, Es­tates and Trusts Com­mit­tee. She is also a mem­ber of t he Na­tional Law So­ci­ety of South Africa De­ceased Es­tates, Trusts and Plan­ning Com­mit­tee.

I n be­tween run­ning a busy prac­tice, Ceris lec­tures part time on the sub­ject of ad­min­is­tra­tion of de­ceased es­tates at the UCT Post Grad­u­ate School for Le­gal Prac­tice, to can­di­date at­tor­neys for the Law So­ci­ety and to other at­tor­neys and sup­port staff through­out South Africa for Le­gal Ed­u­ca­tion and De­vel­op­ment of the Law So­ci­ety of South Africa.

The part-time lec­tur­ing con­sumes a lot of time and in­volves a great deal of trav­el­ling, with the re­sult that much work has to be com­pleted af­ter nor­mal of­fice hours. Thanks to her own ded­i­ca­tion and her highly com­pe­tent staff, Ceris is able to ful­fil her pas­sion of prac­tis­ing law, run­ning a busi­ness and im­part­ing knowl­edge and skills.
