OBE ‘elitist’ claim is wide of the mark

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - COMMENT -

I DO not know that “the government regarded excellence in education to be unnecessarily elitist” (David Klatzow, “Education system failing our nation”, Weekend Argus, 31 October).

I have never attributed this view to the government.

I do believe that one element in outcomes based education philosophy denies that excellence in educational achievement by students ought to be encouraged and certified through assessment processes on the grounds that this is “elitist”.
