WERDER BREMEN striker Aaron Hunt has rejected the opportunity to represent England at international level.

Reports yesterday suggested that the 23-year-old forward, who was born in Germany but whose mother is English, has attracted the attention of Fabio Capello.

Hunt has represented Germany at U16, U17 and U21 level but has yet to play for the senior team.

According to the Daily Mail, his mother is keen for him to switch allegiances and wear the Three Lions.

However, the player himself, although flattered by the attention, has eyes only on playing for Germany.

He said: “I feel honoured that England have expressed an interest in me and even watched me play.

“But I am clear I want to play for Germany. This is where I grew up and played all my football.”

PREFERS GERMANY: Aaron Hunt of Werder Bremen.
