Heading for the US of A
WE’VE ALL heard of people emigrating from South Africa, but here’s a happy story about a little dog that’s off to America.
The Karoo Animal Protection Society (Kaps) found Lindi abandoned in a poor area of Ladismith.
Kaps got her into foster care, and then discovered that one of her hind legs was crippled – the hip joint would sometimes come out of its socket.
This is a very painful condition and Lindi needed an urgent operation.
Luckily for her, a kind vet in Oudtshoorn did the operation at a special low fee and Lindi was fine.
Then three qualified animal technicians from America arrived to work with Kaps for a few weeks.
They went around the Little Karoo spaying animals so they could not have unwanted babies.
The Americans stayed on Klipfontein Farm in Barrydale, where Lindi was staying.
At night Lindi would creep into the bedroom of one of the Americans, Rose Quinn, and sleep at the foot of her bed.
Rose fell in love with Lindi and decided to take her home to America.
On Tuesday Lindi flew out of Cape Town for Fort Collins in Colorado, where
she will hopefully live happily with her new best
