Darren’s proved he has talent aplenty

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - FRONT PAGE - CARVIN GOLDSTONE

DARREN Rajbal may be deaf but he has already achieved more in 19 years than most able-bodied South Africans have in a lifetime.

Winning the inaugural SA’s Got Talent on SABC 2 this week is just another jewel in his crown which includes winning the South African Mr Bollywood title, KZN’s top model and the Zkwala Award for sign-language poetry.

The young achiever has also starred in a local film, Hip Hop 2 Bollywood, and hopes his victory in the local talent competition will bring him more film opportunities.

His mother Shereen Ramnath said there was already talk of getting him to star with R&B megastar Usher in a music video and perhaps even crooner Chris Brown, whose song Rajbal danced to in the competition.

While Rajbal has indicated that he would love to start a dance school with the R250 000 he won, Ramnath says her son still had many options open.

“He is multi-skilled, he’s a cartoonist, a mime and he does pottery. Every sport Darren has taken part in he has excelled at.”
