Singer lied about sex acts – lawyer

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - NEWS -

SINGER Robbie Klay’s allegation that he was molested as a child by fellow Afrikaans singer Jurie Els were “fabrications”, the Pretoria High Court heard yesterday.

Danie Dorfling, for Els, put it to the 23-year-old Klay that he had lied about the indecent acts he claimed Els had subjected him to.

Dorfling said Els would say that he had filled only two roles in Klay’s life: as the father the young singer had never had, and as executive director of Klay’s albums, turning “a little boy into a well-known star”.

Els has pleaded not guilty to two charges of indecently assaulting Klay – when he was under the age of 12 and 16, respectively, as well as soliciting Klay to commit indecent acts when he was a minor.

Klay earlier testified in graphic detail about the alleged sexual acts, which included sodomy, oral sex and mutual masturbation. He claimed the acts had started when he was 11 and ended when he was 18, but admitted that he had been a willing partner. – Sapa
