Buy a cottage in Tamboerskloof

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - PROPERTY -

FOUR cottages that form part of a Tamboerskloof boutique hotel are for sale through Seeff City Bowl, Atlantic seaboard and CBD.

The décor theme for the Cape Cadogan hotel is based on Oscar Wilde’s bohemian lifestyle in Europe and New York during the latter part of the 19th century.

The double-storey Georgian/Victorian building dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. It was originally a farmhouse, and was adapted in Victorian style in 1912 and declared a national monument in 1984. The current owners bought the monument in 2002 and converted it into a small luxury hotel, says Anke Menelaou of Seeff Properties.

“In 2003 Seeff facilitated the acquisition of a neighbouring prop- erty for the hotel, the glamorous Owner’s Villa, and subsequently the four cottages and an apartment block behind the hotel, in a quiet lane, have been turned into apartment-style units. Now known as Kloof Street Village, it transformed from a rundown area into a celebrity village.

“The hotel offers all the luxurious facilities anyone could expect, with air conditioners, heaters, bar fridges, hairdryers, satellite TV and ADSL internet access.

“The units for sale are serviced in the manner and style of The Cape Cadogan. They range in price from R1.525 million to R2.15m, excluding VAT, and can be purchased with a guaranteed lease with the hotel in place.”
