Unemployment drops 0.2% in Japan
TOKYO: Japan’s jobless rate for October dropped by 0.2 per cent compared with the previous month, owing to rising production and exports, the government said.
Unemployment was down to 5.1 percent in October, the third consecutive monthly drop, the government said in a statement yesterday.
For every 100 jobseekers there were 44 openings, one more than in September.
The number of unemployed increased by 890 000 people to 3.44 million year-on-year, the government said. The situation on the job market remains grave, it added.
