EASTERN Cape police arrested 27 people after an angry mob ar med with pangas torched nine houses in Ngcobo, a spokesman said.
Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela yesterday said Ngcobo residents were angry and accused the headman of stealing their stock on Thursday.
“The people said one of the stolen sheep was found in the headman’s kraal, so that’s why they burned his home,” said Fatyela. The headman’s home and eight other houses, belonging to his son and other relatives, were set alight. – Sapa
