Bank boss wants de­cree nul­li­fied

BUENOS AIRES: Ar­gentina’s ousted Cen­tral Bank chief said yes­ter­day he would ask courts to nul­lify Pres­i­dent Cristina Fer­nan­dez’s de­cree fir­ing him be­cause he had balked at re­leas­ing re­serves to cover for­eign debt pay­ments.

Mean­while, an op­po­si­tion con­gress­man said a judge had granted his re­quest to block the bank from us­ing its re­serves to pay for­eign debt.

Fer­nan­dez is­sued an emer­gency de­cree re­mov­ing Cen­tral Bank pres­i­dent Martin Re­drado for fail­ure to ful­fill his du­ties.
