World Cup wine winner
THE FIRST red of 2010 is one of a trio of limited edition wines made to mark the 2010 World Cup.
Few will be surprised to find that Nederburg has been given this honour – as one of our most successful producers, the name is globally known, and only big players can afford to negotiate with Fifa for licences of this kind.
There’s a rosé and a sauvignon blanc too, which I haven’t sampled, priced around R55. The 2010 cabernet, vintage 2007, sells for R70. This has been carefully crafted to please a wide range of palates – fruity and approachable but retaining classic characteristics, it is a certain winner.
