Pupils sought af­ter stab­bing, shoot­ing

MITCHELLS Plain po­lice are looking for three school­boy sus­pects af­ter a pupil and se­cu­rity guard were in­jured dur­ing an at­tack at Man­dalay sta­tion.

Just be­fore 8am yes­ter­day po­lice re­cov­ered a re­volver that had been used in a shoot­ing at the sta­tion ear­lier. Pa­trolling po­lice rushed to the sta­tion when they heard shots be­ing fired. They chased three boys in school uni­forms.

It is al­leged that the boys had con­fronted a 17year-old pupil on the train and stabbed him in the left arm. A se­cu­rity guard saw them and jumped off the train to pur­sue the boys.

“They took out a firearm and fired sev­eral shots at him, hit­ting him in his stom­ach. This is when po­lice on pa­trol heard the shots. With the help of other po­lice mem­bers, they dis­cov­ered the Taurus re­volver in the back yard of a house in Rosi Street in Man­dalay where the sus­pects jumped over a wall,” Cap­tain Wayne Muller said.

The se­cu­rity guard and the school­boy were taken to hospi­tal and are in a sta­ble con­di­tion.
