Brisk sales in convenient Gordon’s Bay
NESTLED at the foot of the Hottentots Holland mountain range, Gordon’s Bay occupies a beautiful position between the mountains and ocean, and has a wide variety of homes to suit all types of buyers.
Pam Golding Properties reports that interest in the town swelled over the festive season, with out-oftown visitors and foreigners seeking properties.
During November and December alone, PGP’s agents concluded R12.5 million in sales in the town, including two luxury mountainside and waterfront homes, priced at R3m and R3.5m.
PGP’s area manager, Linda Killick, says the company now has more than 50 Gordon’s Bay homes for sale, ranging from apartments priced at R365 000 to luxury homes for about R16m.
“We also have a number of homes ideal for family buyers, priced from around R1.5m.
“Bikini Beach offers safe swimming in warm waters, and has enjoyed Blue Flag status for three consecutive years now. And there are ample opportunities to get out into nature, from gentle hikes in the surrounding mountains to more strenuous excursions like kloofing in the Steenbras River Gorge, paragliding or quad-biking.
“Watersports enthusiasts, in particular, are well catered for, and the town has two harbours, including a modern new marina around which the Harbour Island precinct has been developed, with secure apartments, restaurants and shopping opportunities,” says Killick.
Gordon’s Bay lies on the fringes of the Kogelberg Biosphere, a World Heritage Site renowned for its wealth of flora and fauna, and regular visitors to the mountainside above the town include the rare geometric tortoise, baboons, lynx and even the occasional leopard. Flower lovers will appreciate the Gordon’s Bay pincushion, which is endemic to the slopes between the town and nearby Kogel Bay. Whales also regularly frequent the bay from June to November.
Annien Borg, PGP’s MD for the Boland and Overberg regions, says the company’s recent sales have included some to returning expatriates and a number of investment buyers who have recognised the excellent value for money on offer and the convenient location.
“Gordon’s Bay is close to work opportunities in Somerset West and Stellenbosch, which are less than 20 minutes away, close to the airport, and even within easy reach of Kuils River and its surrounding industrial areas.”
PGP’s homes for sale include a luxurious 750m beachfront home in a secure complex at R12m.
