City matters

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - COMMENT -

Regarding the cycling lane between Green Point and the city, residents don’t go to work by bike except hardcore cyclists. Are these lanes a waste of money or what?

The drain on the corner of Commercial and Canterbury streets has been without a cover for three weeks; get it fixed before someone gets hurt.

Opinions

Great letter, Brian Cox. Maybe that should be the last word, as the homophobic bigots will not see reason.

What gives Brian Cox the right to launch a personal attack without the facts? Cox comes across as being as much of a whiner and bigot as he accuses Naidoo of being, and the joke is he doesn’t even realise it.

Law & order

On Thursday at 8.55am, while I stood at the robots at the top of Paradise Road where De Waal Drive begins, there were sirens and flashing blue lights. The president? Nope. Just some prisoners from Pollsmoor. Someone must have overslept and created this frantic emergency.

British police shoot an innocent man seven times in the head. Shoot a drunk lawyer 57 times. But they can’t even use fire hoses to disperse a mob of students on the rampage.

If Inge Lotz had been British her murder would have been solved.

Others

Tony Schilder, thank you for your wonderful music and huge contribution. RIP.

Although I dislike Steve Hofmeyr’s vulgarity I am inclined to agree with his sentiments. Those who demand the most contribute the least.

The ANCYL was aware Mbeki was too clever to be manipulated by them. They took their support away and gave it to the more easily led person.

WIth Christmas looming there can be no better gift than a loving animal from organisations like the SPCA. The love these pets will give in return to their new owners is rewarding beyond belief.

Female cashiers at Grassy Park Post Office need better people skills. Smiling, greeting, thanking, etc.

The coach of Chiefs says the two big teams are Chiefs and Pirates; the rest are the small teams. And people ask why I only watch English soccer.

Animal hell hole… Well done SPCA. But warehouse owners should be jailed in such cases.

Vegetarian who has nicer Christmas dinners without meat – your previous cook shouldn’t be allowed near a kitchen or you have poor taste in food.

Sun International should fire the manager of Grand West before they lose all their clients. The only machines that are paying out are the ATMs.

Why don’t customers step back once they have ordered goods and services at a counter and make space for the next person?
