Africa’s first toboggan track is now open in Bellville at Cool Runnings Toboggan Family Park. This adventure sport is currently popular around the world right now. The park offers a summer version of the winter sport but on steel instead of snow.
A toboggan is a sled that you ride down a 1.25km-long twisting, snaky half-pipe of steel. It is suitable for all ages, even eight-yearolds can go it alone, while undereights sit on a two-seater with an adult. The park is opposite the Bel- lville Velodrome, in Tygervalley.
It is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am-6pm and on weekends from 9am-6pm.
The track is closed during rainy weather. Tickets cost R65 for three rides, R120 for four and R180 for six.
Table Mountain, recently voted one of the New 7Wonders of Nature, offers loads of fun and cool things to do on the mountain top. From December 10 to January 15, children visiting the cableway will receive a 20- page activity book filled with games. There are treasure hunts too. Father Christmas and his helpful Christmas Fairy will also be there between 11am and 1pm daily from December 24 to December 25. Tickets for adults cost R97.50 and children R47.50
Carols by candlelight will be held at Kirstenbosch from December 15 to 18. It is organised by the Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch. The concerts start at 8pm each night and gates open at 5pm. Tickets are only available at Pick n Pay. For more information call 0800 11 22 88 or 083 270 9286. THEATRE
