Claremart hails a successful 2011
THE PAST year has been successful for auctions, according to Claremart Auction Group sales director Farrell Perling.
“Specific profiles of property continued to be popular choices for investors, and there have been some exceptional highlights,” he says.
“One of the residential property highlights was the sale of one of the last vacant sites in Clifton. The prime piece of land at 3 Victoria Road offered a rare opportunity to create a signature property in a worldclass location.
“The site was sold in June and was one of three sales in the Clifton node, where ClareMart maintained a 100 percent sales record.
“Al t hough d e mand f o r vacant agricultural land definitely took a downward turn during 2011 there were a number of highlights, including the portion of Meerendal Wine Estate. The 47-hectare portion was sold as a result of a ClareMart auction in October.
“Throughout 2011 the demand for entire residential apartment blocks has been high and Claremart has disposed of several. The return on investment in this property sector is relatively high and secure and as a result residential blocks in the southern and Tygerberg suburbs, Atlantic seaboard and the West Coast have been sold at auction after some very competitive bidding.”
Perling says Claremart submitted a record number of entries in its November multiple auction.
