Many faiths are celebrating

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - CELEBRATIONS -

DECEMBER is a time to gather round the table and enjoy the summer (although meteorologists are predicting lower temperatures than usual this summer).

Significant religious dates include Bodhi Day on December 8 – the Buddhist celebration of Prince Gautama, marking when he “took his place under the Bodhi tree, vowing to remain there until he attained supreme enlightenment”; Chanukah between December 21 and 28, the Jewish festival of lights which sees the first candle lit on the evening of December 20 and, of course, Christmas on the 25th.
