A chance to show some leadership

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - COMMENT -

REALISING former president Thabo Mbeki is writing a letter to government about a malicious statement by Willem Heath, the presidential spindoctor Mac Maharaj quickly spun that President Jacob Zuma was already investigating the matter. I am convinced this was a blue lie.

Both Zuma and Maharaj are chief architects of untruths about the legacy of Mbeki.

Heath was just recycling the propaganda against Mbeki.

What should make Mbeki happy is that his resignation from domestic politics has resulted in a civil war between forces that were humiliating him.

The ANCYL’S apology to him was more important than Heath’s stupid remarks. Heath is not and has never been an ANC member.

Heath’s malicious statement is a test for Zuma to show leadership and compel Heath to issue a statement not only to Mbeki but also to him as president and the entire ANC membership.
