THE MAYA­PURIS – this renowned kir­tan band will do one per­for­mance on Thurs­day (De­cem­ber 15) at 8pm, at the Joseph Stone Au­di­to­rium in Athlone. Kir­tan – also known as Sankir­tan– is San­skrit for “to re­peat”. It is a fu­sion of chant­ing of hymns or mantras, ac­com­pa­nied by in­stru­ments such as the har­mo­nium and tablas. Tick­ets R80. THE ELVES AND THE SHOE­MAKER – the Lil­liput Play­ers are stag­ing this clas­sic fairy tale at the Hill­song Church in Cen­tury City (next to Ratanga Junc­tion). It is on un­til De­cem­ber 24 at 10.30am (Mon­day to Satur­day). Kids get sweet­ies – handed out by Fa­ther Christ­mas.
