Looking back on an eventful auctions year
THE PAST year has been interesting and eventful when it comes to auctions and the property market, says Jonathan Smiedt, chief executive of Claremart Auction Group.
“About 1 2 0 0 0 b i d d e r s attended our standalone and multiple property auctions throughout the year and we presented 23 percent more standalone auctions than last year,” says Smiedt.
“Our multiple property auctions of commercial, residential and luxury properties have grown and we have had many more property entries and bidder registrations.
“Our client base has also grown with more private sellers using our professional service and legal instructions continuing to increase in 2011.
“Some of the trends we have noted over this past year include the increased demand for residential investment property, the return of demand for vacant land and the fact that properties priced at market related estimations continue to be snapped up at our auctions.
“The group is looking forward to next year and the growth it will bring, not only in the market and with our valued client base but internally, as we restructure and ready ourselves for the opportunities that the New Year will bring.
“On behalf of the group, I wish all Weekend Argus auction supplement readers, our valued clients and industry associates, a peaceful and joyous festive season and a prosperous New Year.”
