The ad opens on a black teenager in a town­ship. He is grip­ping a base­ball bat, dream­ing of be­ing a great base­ball player. The fol­low­ing scenes de­pict the poverty of his sur­round­ings as he winds his way through shacks and dusty roads to get to the base­ball pitch. There he hits the ball out of sight and his bat re­flects the words: “Give Am­bi­tion a Chance.”
