Festive fairy-tale fun for the family
THE MAGICAL Christmas fairy tale The Elves and the Shoemaker is being staged at the Hillsong Church in Century City.
This merry mini-musical, put on by the Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company, tells the story of a German shoemaker and his wife. They are very poor and are worried they will not be able to sell enough shoes. But that changes when two elves pay them a visit and make it the best Christmas they have ever had.
Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls and Bright Christmas are just some of the songs children can sing along to in this festive show.
It is directed by Elton John Duffy, who has been working in children’s theatre since 1993.
The production stars Liande Valentyn as Cutpatch, Nikki Louw as Lady Ladida, Duffy as Amadeus, Desle Mcconney as Snipstitch and Carmen Maarman as Brigitte. The show is 40 minutes long and is suitable for the whole family.
It will run from Monday to Saturday at 10.30am.
After each show, the audience can meet Father Christmas, who will be handing out sweets to the children.
Parents are encouraged to bring a present or a toy for an underprivileged child to put under the Christmas tree. These presents will be distributed to children’s homes and hospitals in Cape Town.
Tickets are R40 at Computicket. For block bookings or queries, call Duffy at 083 364 8284 or 021 558- 2650. For more information on the Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company, visit www.lilliputplayers.co.za
