Cor­rup­tion al­le­ga­tions over ‘huge oil deal plan be­tween taxi body, MP’

A DIS­GRUN­TLED former em­ployee of the SA National Taxi Coun­cil (San­taco) has blown the lid off a mas­sive oil deal plan be­tween the taxi body and an MP.

In pa­pers filed in the Jo­han­nes­burg Labour Court, Stan­ley Seiti has ac­cused sus­pended San­taco pres­i­dent Jabulani Mthembu, CEO Bon­gani Msi­mang and Trans­port port­fo­lio com­mit­tee chair­woman Ruth Bhengu of “cor­rup­tion”.

This re­lates to an oil deal which Seiti claims San­taco Trad­ing – an in­vest­ment arm of the taxi body – was plan­ning to en­ter into with Bhengu’s com­pany, Ri­blore 22 cc, which would en­sure bulk sup­ply of pe­tro­leum to the taxi in­dus­try.

Bhengu con­firmed that ne­go­ti­a­tions had taken place be­tween her com­pany, Mthembu and San­taco gen­eral sec­re­tary Phillip Taai­bosch and that at a later stage these in­volved Msi­mang.
