No Lohan for SA Playboy

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - NEWS -

HOLLYWOOD celebrity Lindsay Lohan will not grace the cover of South Africa’s January Playboy edition, despite her popular American issue, the magazine said yesterday.

“We have opted for a very different cover option for our January-february edition, and ironically, someone that is much bigger than Lohan,” said SA editor- in- chief, Charl du Plessis, without revealing who it was. But he added that her replacement for the JanuaryFebruary double issue was an “international cover model”.

Twenty pages in the magazine, out on January 16, would also pay tribute to this model’s “best- seller” covers for the magazine in the past. Her latest shoot had taken place in Italy.

“We have no doubt it will become our best-selling cover since our launch.”

Last week, Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner, tweeted that the Lohan issue in America was “breaking sales records”.

Lohan, 25, was paid one million dollars for the retro-style shoot in which she is made up to resemble Marilyn Monroe.

Lohan is notorious for her battle with drugs and alcohol.

Du Plessis said distribution, circulation and payment issues, as well as the smaller SA market, contributed to the decision not to use Lohan as the cover star. – Sapa
