GROOV­ING and jiv­ing the night away in a pic­turesque set­ting com­plete with colour­ful fire­works may be your ideal New Year’s Eve cel­e­bra­tion. Start­ing 7am on De­cem­ber 31, with a race brief­ing at 6.45am, the event in­cludes a run/walk (4.8km) and moun­tain bike (15/35/70km) and road bike (20/40km) routes.

If you want a sun­set hike on your last evening of the year, try the Delvera Hi-tec New Year’s Eve Sun­set Hike, which starts at 5.30pm, with sun­set at 8pm. It starts at the Dir­topia Trail Cen­tre on Delvera Farm on the R44, be­tween Klap­muts and Stel­len­bosch. The routes are 9.75km or 5km.

For R80 (chil­dren nine or un­der pay R40) you get a per­mit, map, op­tional shut­tle ser­vice and a glass of sparkling wine or juice.

This will be fol­lowed by a New Year’s Eve party in the foyer straight af­ter the shows fea­tur­ing live band Chap­ter.
