De­light in aro­matic herb tour

ADD AN aro­matic tour through seas of green herbs to your food and wine ex­pe­di­tions to Fran­schhoek, guided by Allee Bleue’s res­i­dent herb ex­pert.

This en­ter­pris­ing farm off the R45 near the town now of­fers vis­i­tors trips through hectares of hy­dro­ponic tun­nels from which a ton of herbs is har­vested weekly in sea­son.

Basil, co­rian­der, rocket, thyme and rose­mary are most in de­mand, but they also grow dill, fennel, sage, tat­soi, pars­ley, spring onions, mint, oregano, wa­ter­cress and tar­ragon.

The tours, which take place on Fri­days, are fol­lowed by a cock­tail and a three-course herb-in­spired lunch, with wine. Tick­ets cost R185 and book­ing is es­sen­tial. Call 021 874 1021 for more in­for­ma­tion.
