How to choose an insurer

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - PERSONALFINANCE -

How do you decide on an insurer or know if yours is the best one for you? Most people decide on price: some opt for the company offering the lowest premium, and others assume that the more you pay, the more you get in cover. But price is just one factor. Understanding the different types of policies is another, as is knowing how much cover you need.

At the next Acsis/Personal Finance Financial Planning Club presentation, Dennis Jooste, the Ombudsman for Short-term Insurance, will discuss the main factors to consider when choosing an insurer. He will also outline the common mistakes policyholders make and explain how his office can help you.

The presentation will take place at the Belmont Square Conference Centre, in Belmont Road, Rondebosch on July 16 at 5.30pm for 6pm. For more information or to book, phone Nomhle Somdaka on 0860 101 226 or email info@fpclub.co.za. You can also book on the club’s website, www.fpclub.co.za

Non-members pay R125 to attend. Members of the Financial Planning Institute pay R80, while students and pensioners pay R75.
