Set in Leechfield, Staffordshire, home to the Thompson family. Patriarch Ken (Greg Davies) is a content 47-year-old. He’s worked hard over the past 20 years and has plenty to show for it: a happy marriage to his wife Lorna (Helen Baxendale), a nice house, a successful job as a lawyer and a beautiful 18-year-old daughter, Rachel (Tamla Kari). Rachel is the apple of his eye. Having aced her A-levels and won herself a place studying law at Bristol University, she decided to take a gap year. Over the past year, Ken and Lorna have been receiving postcards from far-flung places, eagerly awaiting their darling daughter’s return.

They are in for a huge shock when a dreadlocked Rachel returns. Oh, and while she was away she got married…to Cuckoo, played by Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg – an eccentric hippy with a peace and love attitude, who doesn’t have a job and loves drugs.
