Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - NEWS -

THE JUSTICE department has confirmed that murderaccused George Luca will be extradited to South Africa, but couldn’t say when.

Luca faces charges relating to the murder of Teazers strip club boss Lolly Jackson in 2010.

“Now that he has lost his appeal (against the extradition order), Interpol is working around the clock to finalise the logistics of ensuring his return to South Africa to face charges that he had run away from,” department spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga said yesterday.

Although the department could not say when the extradi- tion might happen, the “authorities are treating the matter with urgency”.

Mhaga said the government was pleased that the “wheels of justice will be in motion”.

“We are also encouraged that our legal system is getting more recognition internationally,” he said. – Sapa
