Fresnaye wall fall kills man
A CONSTRUCTION worker died yesterday when a wall he was working on collapsed in Fresnaye.
The man – whose identity has not yet been made public – was part of a team carrying out demolition and reconstruction work on the wall in Ocean View Drive when it collapsed.
Police spokesman Lieutenant- Colonel Andrè Traut said the man’s death was being investigated.
The city’s disaster risk management spokesman Wilfred Solomons- Johannes said another man, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital by ER24. Three other men with minor injuries were taken to local hospitals.
Solomons said the city’s building inspector would investigate the incident in terms of the National Building Regulations and Standards Act and the Department of Labour would also be informed.
