Scientists identify ‘fountain of youth’ gene

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - LIFE -

LONDON: Scientists have identified a “fountain of youth” gene. It quickened the healing of wounds in mice and sped up regrowth after fur was shaved.

The gene, Lin28a, is highly active in the womb, but does less and less as a person ages.

The Harvard Medical School scien- tists hope that activating it in adults could accelerate the healing of wounds after operations.

Researcher George Daley said: “Lin28a could be part of a healing cocktail that gives adults the superior tissue repair seen in juvenile animals.” – Daily Mail
