To whom do you divulge your private details?

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - PERSONALFINANCE -

Most of us have received an email or SMS inducing us to part with personal information. Known as “phishing” attacks, these communications look authentic and can easily confuse you. But how do fraudsters get their hands on your email address or cellphone number in the first place?

At the next meeting of the Acsis/Personal Finance Financial Planning Club, Anna Collard, founder of Popcorn Training, which promotes information security awareness and training, will explain what you should know when giving out your personal details and the implications of the soon-tobe enacted Protection of Personal Information Bill.

The presentation will take place at the Belmont Square Conference Centre, in Belmont Road, Rondebosch on November 19 at 5.30pm for 6pm. For details or to book, call Nomhle Somdaka on 0860 101 226, email info@fp, or visit the club’s website: www.fp
