How widely have you travelled?
Alaska, New Zealand, Thailand, Italy, Australia, Bora Bora, Canada, Wales, Tahiti, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Samoa, US, England, Netherlands, Cook Islands, Scotland, Fiji, Singapore and Belgium. Favourite holiday? Every tropical island I’ve been on… and a road trip through the states for a month. Favourite time spent abroad? Living in London, and New York.
Your worst experience on holiday?
Belgium, besides the waffles... I was so bored. Your funniest experience? At a bar in Nashville, a friend got offered tobacco to chew... he swallowed it!
What do you avoid during a holiday? Belgium. Your favourite place to have sundowner on your travels?
Tofino, on Vancouver Island in Canada. It had the most incredible sunset; the sky was hot pink.
That evening was the perfect place to have a drink, and my favourite. Best meal abroad? A pesto pizza at Cinque Terre, on the Italian Riviera.
What have you learnt from your travels?
It really does broaden your mind. And, in some cases, gives you a great tan. Ideal travelling companion? Any of my best mates… and potential girlfriend.
Culture vulture or adrenalin junkie? Bring on the culture. Greatest travel luxury? My worn- out jeans. And, in some places, my accent.
I leave the reading for when I’m at home. Favourite drive? Through the heart of America, off the interstate. Dream trip? Already done it. Driving through the US. The landscape and middle America fascinate me. I can’t wait to do it again. But, another dream trip would be to travel with a circus from town to town.
As a seasoned traveller and flyer, can you share some tips?
Share it with someone. If not, then make new friends. Don’t skimp on photos. And, throw caution to the wind. Where next? Hopefully Cannes next year.
CULTURE VULTURE: Scot Cooper is widely travelled and the Grand Canyon is just one of the many exciting places he has visited.
