Bar: Le Roi Beach Bar Address: 104 The Promenade, Victoria Road, Camps Bay Contact: 021 437 1791 Twitter: @LeRoiBeachBar Cocktail: Napoleon Crush Price: R45 Ingredients: Fresh watermelon, fresh lime, citrus-flavoured vodka FEEL like biting into fresh watermelon soaked in vodka this summer? The Napoleon Crush at Le Roi Beach Bar gives you the opportunity to sip a cocktail with a chunk of melon flesh in it while taking in a Camps Bay sunset at one of the summer’s new spots.

Le Roi owner Dale Parker makes the drink by first muddling fresh watermelon with lime in an Inverness rocks glass. The vodka is added and the drink is then shaken with a cocktail mixer and capped with crushed ice. It’s garnished with a wedge of watermelon.

If you feel like more watermelon, the bar sometimes leaves some for customers on the counter to cut and enjoy as they please.

The bar opened last week and is described by Parker as having a “retro-slick” theme. Hanging bubble chairs complete this look and make for fun seating.

Their cocktail and food menus are being launched this weekend. Parker says they will have a special on oysters.

The entire bar is non-smoking and wifi is free.

They plan on having DJs every night playing house music.

Le Roi Beach Bar will be open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 4pm to 2am. – WendylMartin
