PwC off the hook in UK Bar­clays probe

LON­DON: Bri­tain’s ac­count­ing watch­dog dropped its probe into PwC’s prepa­ra­tion of com­pli­ance re­ports for Bar­clays Cap­i­tal Se­cu­ri­ties, it said on Fri­day.

Bar­clays was fined £1.1 mil­lion (R18.8m) in Jan­uary 2011 for fail­ing to seg­re­gate cus­tomer money over a pe­riod of eight years and the Fi­nan­cial Re­port­ing Coun­cil opened a probe into the bank’s au­di­tor PwC at the end of 2011.
