BE TRANS­PORTED into the magic world of two sib­lings who ven­ture into an en­chanted for­est or laugh un­til your stom­ach hurts at the an­tics of a miserly old man whose heart is soft­ened by the spirit of Christ­mas, or be mes­merised by a bal­let about a toy tin sol­dier’s love for a beau­ti­ful pa­per bal­le­rina at the the­atre this hol­i­day.

There are af­ter­noon and evening shows guar­an­teed to keep the whole fam­ily en­ter­tained and plenty of op­tions to choose from.

The Bax­ter The­atre is putting on Dick­ens’s clas­sic Christ­mas tale A Christ­mas Carol with a Cape Town twist.

Fun­ny­man Marc Lot­ter­ing stars as Scrooge with other fa­mous faces such as Shaleen SurtieRichards, An­drew Buck­land, Christo Davids, Nur Abra­hams and Pose­letso Se­josin­goe.

The show also has a choir of 50 chil­dren. It’s on Mon­day to Satur­day at 7.30pm, with af­ter­noon shows at 3pm, un­til Jan­uary 25.

Also on at the Bax­ter The­atre is the Brothers Grimm fairy­tale Hansel & Gre­tel, about a young brother and sis­ter who live with their fa­ther and their un­kind step­mother.

Things go wrong when they are left deep in the for­est to look af­ter them­selves, and are threat­ened by a wicked witch who lives in a house made of cake and sweets.
