Philippi shopping centre extension construction on track
THE EXTENSION and redevelopment of the Philippi Shopping Centre, on the corner of Lansdowne and New Eisleben roads, is set for completion in early December and brings welcome new retail outlets to the residents of Philippi.
The centre is undergoing an e x t e nsi o n t hat wil l o f f e r increased retail to Philippi residents, who will no longer have to travel to other areas to access banking facilities, buy food, clothing, household and convenience goods. Some of the new tenants in the extension are Ackermans and Shoprite Liquor.
“With over 20 tenants, and with Shoprite as the anchor tenant, the extension of the Philippi shopping centre offers exciting opportunities to consumers in this underserviced area, and to retailers who want to expand into this growing area,” says Sean Paul, managing director of Spire Property Management, which manages the Philippi Shopping Centre on behalf of Fortress Income Fund.
“Philippi is growing and retail development is a necessary element for successful urban renewal – especially in underserviced areas. There has been a speedy uptake on vacancies by retailers so far.”
The extension to the Philippi shopping centre, once completed, will add 1 450m² to the total footprint of the centre and limited vacant space is still available in this extension.
The improved Philippi shopping centre will be completed in time for the festive season retail boom. For more information, call 021 685 4020.
