Pupils sue Boris’s prep school over ‘horrific’ sex abuse

Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition) - - WORLD - PAUL BENTLEY

THE BOARDING school attended by London mayor Boris Johnson is being sued by former pupils over claims of widespread sexual abuse. Two teachers are accused of subjecting children between the ages of seven and 13 to “horrific” attacks in the 1970s. Ashdown House Preparatory, known as a feeder school for Eton, is now facing a number of compensation claims from former pupils.

An e-mail was circulated this month warning that the abuse had allegedly been covered up. The note, written by former pupils suing the school, claimed: “The reason why we have decided to do this so late on is that it has come to light that sexual and physical abuse was rife between 1970 and 1980, and from more than one teacher.”

The prep school, in the village of Forest Row, East Sussex, teaches about 140 pupils.

Johnson attended the school with his brother Jo, now a Tory MP, and sister Rachel. A spokesman said: “We are aware Sussex Police were officially informed in 2003 of an allegation of sexual abuse relating to the mid-’70s. We understood the police were dealing with the investigation.” – Daily Mail
