Bar: Le Roi Beach Bar 104 The Promenade, Victoria Road, Camps Bay Contact: 021 437 1791 Cocktail: Pressed Apple Margarita Twitter: @LeRoiBeachBar Price: R45/R65 (depending on choice of tequila) Ingredients: a double shot of Jose Cuervo Black or Don Julio tequila, fresh apple juice, mint, Cointreau triple sec and a squeeze of lemon BRING me more tequila, it’s summer and it’s my right.

Le Roi Beach Bar owner Dale Parker makes the drink by placing the ingredients in a Boston shaker with ice and double straining into a Champagne coupe.

It is a murky drink and not too sweet, making it a good choice for those who prefer to sip on grown-up cocktails.

Le Roi Beach Bar opened last month and is described by owner Parker as having a “retro-slick” theme. Hanging bubble chairs complete the look and make for fun, swinging seating.

Its Facebook page says the bar is inspired by the “vibrant palette of Tretchikoff’s work”. The artist’s Miss Wong and The Lady from Orient are focal points to keep you company while you enjoy the bar.

The bar is in a good location to take in a Camps Bay sunset. It is is non-smoking and wi-fi is free.

There are performing DJs at night playing house music.

Le Roi Beach Bar is open from Tuesdays to Sundays, from 4pm to 2am. – Wendyl Martin
