17 people arrested in city roadblocks
LAW enforcement units joined forces in Cape Town yesterday making 17 arrests, issuing 96 warrants and 72 warnings.
“This was about reclaiming what is rightfully ours, the community’s, and restoring law and order,” said the police’s Cape Town cluster commander Andre Lincoln.
Lincoln yesterday led a group of police known as the “Blue Knights Brigade” on their motorcycles, who joined forces with other police, traffic services, and the City of Cape Town’s metro police.
Multiple arrests were made at two roadblocks. Mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith announced the arrests. Lincoln said charges were mostly related to traffic violations, but also included two drug-related arrests and one for riotous behaviour. – ANA
