17 peo­ple ar­rested in city road­blocks

LAW en­force­ment units joined forces in Cape Town yes­ter­day mak­ing 17 ar­rests, is­su­ing 96 war­rants and 72 warn­ings.

“This was about re­claim­ing what is right­fully ours, the com­mu­nity’s, and restor­ing law and or­der,” said the po­lice’s Cape Town clus­ter com­man­der An­dre Lin­coln.

Lin­coln yes­ter­day led a group of po­lice known as the “Blue Knights Brigade” on their mo­tor­cy­cles, who joined forces with other po­lice, traf­fic ser­vices, and the City of Cape Town’s metro po­lice.

Mul­ti­ple ar­rests were made at two road­blocks. May­oral com­mit­tee mem­ber for safety and se­cu­rity JP Smith an­nounced the ar­rests. Lin­coln said charges were mostly re­lated to traf­fic vi­o­la­tions, but also in­cluded two drug-re­lated ar­rests and one for ri­otous be­hav­iour. – ANA
