IKAPA DANCE FESTIVAL. Town and township is the theme for this inaugural festival, hosted by Ikapa Dance Company, which opens on November 23 with a week of workshops, poetry and film, culminatin­g in a gala evening at Artscape on November 28. The gala will feature companies from SA, US, India, Finland, Mozambique and South Africa. On November 29, The Maboneng Township Arts Experience Festival will take place in Gugulethu. This platform of locally brewed short operas is at Artscape from next Saturday to November 28 and follows similar production­s staged in 2010 and in 2013. The team behind Four: 30 includes directors Geoffrey Hyland, Marcus Desando, designer Michael Mitchell, conductor Kamal Khan and costume designer Leigh Bishop. XX KISS KISS. Sisters Tara and Cleo Notcutt recently premiered this zesty, funky revue at Alexander Upstairs and it’s on for another run at the Kalk Bay Theatre from November 24-28. Tara directs Cleo (who is also the choreograp­her) and awesomely talented dancers in this fun show which is an interrogat­ion of the kiss set to a mash-up of music.
