77% win for NLD
MYANMAR’S Union Election Commission released final results of the general election with the National League for Democracy (NLD) securing 886 seats or 77.04 percent.
The NLD garnered 255 seats in the House of Representatives, 135 in the House of Nationalities and 496 in the Region or State Parliament. The ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party took 118 seats, 30 in the House of Representatives, 12 in the House of Nationalities, and 76 in the Region Parliament.
‘Undercover affairs’ from Scotland Yard
SCOTLAND YARD has settled legal claims from seven female activists who said undercover police had formed “intimate sexual relationships” with them while investigating protest movements.
Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt said “some officers, acting undercover while seeking to infiltrate protest groups, entered into long-term intimate sexual relationships with women which were abusive, deceitful, manipulative and wrong.”
