Junior Spring Queen crowned
EVERY year for the past 40 years, talented factory workers from the city’s clothing industry have competed for the coveted title of Spring Queen.
This year’s spectacle, held last weekend at Athlone Stadium, also featured the first Junior Spring Queen event.
Ten girls, between the ages of 13 to 16 took part. They were the children of factory workers.
The crown went to Zoe Hendricks, centre. First princess was Simone Williams and second princess was Michelle Smith.
The pageant was organised by the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (Sactwu).
